Selection Methods
It has been our experience that different people look for and generally find different ways of using the VSR ratings to suit themselves.
Over the years most users have gravitated towards their own methods of ‘working the ratings’ that best suit them or their requirements and we have offered alternative options from time to time.
One such option is using the ratings to trade on falling prices by highlighting when several specific ‘strength signals’ all occur on the same line or in certain race types. The odds of such selections normally shorten early in a race if not before the start and the success rate for wins and places increases substantially.
A similar but reversed approach can be used for helping identify weak favourites for laying off on the exchanges.
Another effective method of using the ratings is where selections fitting a defined set of conditions are used in conjunction with the charts found on our ExPort exchange trading platform.
Some members prefer to use a combination of several approaches while others have long since learned which types of race and selection methods work best for them.
From one lady who has enjoyed making steady profits by reading the ratings like a book for many years to a mathematician who uses them only in races of a certain field size and distance the ratings provide the data to enhance any intelligent approach.
